5 Things You Need to Know About Upgrading to Windows 11
Despite Microsoft previously stating that Windows 10 was the last version of Windows, Microsoft recently announced that Windows 11 is coming later this year. Previous releases of Windows meant big changes for your home and business computers. Should you be concerned about upgrading to Windows 11? Here are 5 things we think you should know about the upcoming release of Windows 11.
1. Windows 11 will be a free upgrade for Windows 10
If you have Windows 10 already, the upgrade to Windows 11 will be free. It will be released through Windows Update, just like other updates you already receive for your computer. TekStop is ready to assist you with the upgrade process once it is released to the general public.
2. Your computer is most likely compatible with Windows 11
Windows 11 comes with new hardware requirements. This means that some computers will not be compatible with this new version. However, most computers 5 years old and newer already have the hardware required for Windows 11. If you aren’t sure if your system is compatible, you can download the Windows PC Health Check app here.
3. Windows 10 will still be supported through 2025
If you aren’t ready to upgrade to Windows 11, don’t worry! Windows 10 will still be supported until October 14th, 2025. This will give you plenty of time to upgrade your computer and applications before upgrading to Windows 11.
4. Most of your applications will still be compatible with Windows 11
Microsoft has stated that Windows 11 will support most existing applications that work on Windows 10. As with any other operating system upgrade, you will want to verify that your apps are compatible with Windows 11 before upgrading. However, we should see fewer compatibility issues than we have in the past.
5. TekStop is ready to support Windows 11 as soon as it’s released
