What does the Internet Explorer End of Life mean for you?
Internet Explorer has been slated for its end of life since 2021. But until now you have been able to use it without a problem. On June 15th, Microsoft began pushing an update to Windows PCs that will permanently disable Internet Explorer. What does this mean for you?
Use Edge after Internet Explorer End of Life
Microsoft Edge is the new internet browser replacing Internet Explorer after its end of life. Edge has been around a while and has had its share of ups and downs. But now, we believe it’s a great primary browser! With all of the modern features you could want, including extensions and vertical tabs, Edge will serve you well.
Edge is faster, more secure, and stays up to date to run the internet’s latest websites. Microsoft has promised compatibility for legacy websites, as well. If you have questions about this change, Microsoft has released a technical FAQ on the matter.
How to enable Internet Explorer Mode in Microsoft Edge
If you need to access a legacy website or webapp after the Internet Explorer end of life, you’re in luck! You can simply enable IE Mode within Edge to regain compatibility with those legacy apps.
To enable internet explorer mode, open up Edge. In the address bar at the top of your screen, type “edge://settings/defaultbrowser” and press Enter on your keyboard. You can also access this menu from the main “Settings” area, then scroll down to Default browser. Once you are in this menu, change “Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer” to on. Then restart your browser.

Conclusion
Although Internet Explorer has been around a long time, we think it has been long overdue to be retired. With Microsoft Edge as a solid replacement, we hope to see app developers embrace the change and move on to modern web browsers.
